Description
This 2008 Porsche Cayenne S, internally known as “Project Cypress,” was Porsche Sacramento’s entry in the 2026 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge, presented at the Werks Reunion during Monterey Car Week. Project Cypress was extensively restored, upgraded, and reimagined to create a Cayenne capable of performing both on- and off-road while remaining durable, refined, and enjoyable for years to come. Beyond its mechanical transformation, the vehicle’s interior and exterior were carefully inspected and reconditioned, with cosmetic imperfections addressed throughout. The build features an extensive collection of upgrades from Eurowise, including: Custom front and rear Bilstein B8 8125 shocks with Eibach springs, providing approximately 4.5 inches of lift 2-inch subframe drop Complete front and rear polyurethane control-arm bushing replacement Full underbody protection system Baja-style front bumper Dual-swing-out rear bumper Adjustable front upper control arms Adjustable rear control arms Stainless-steel Trailblazer exhaust system with bumper-exit exhaust tips Front sway-bar mounting system with Apex disconnect links Modular roof rack Interior rear MOLLE panel and cargo tray Dash-mounted MOLLE panel Additional upgrades include off-road auxiliary lighting, a recovery winch with interior controls, revised 4.10:1 front and rear differential gearing, and an upgraded infotainment system utilizing Porsche’s Classic Communication Management (PCCM) system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The Cayenne rides on 18-inch Mantra Fox Forged beadlock wheels wrapped in 35x12.50R18LT BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 tires, completing its purposeful off-road stance. Just as much attention was given to mechanical refurbishment as to the vehicle’s modifications. The engine timing-chain system was serviced with a new timing chain, guides, tensioner, updated timing cover, seals, and gaskets. The cooling system received a new thermostat, water pump, coolant distributor, and coolant pipe. Additional maintenance and refurbishment included new spark plugs, drive belt, belt tensioner, fluids, engine mounts, air filter, oil filter, and front and rear subframe mounts. Project Cypress is far more than a modified Cayenne—it is a thoughtfully engineered and comprehensively restored example created by Porsche Sacramento for one of Porsche Classic’s premier events. The result is a truly distinctive Cayenne S that blends Porsche character, serious off-road capability, and extensive mechanical preparation into one unique package.
